The National Energy Research Alliance (ANCRE) was created in 2009 upon the instigation of the French ministries in charge of ecology, energy, research and higher education. This alliance seeks to coordinate, rationalise and enhance public research on energy in France. It participates in the implementation of the French R&D strategy in the energy sector and with the European Energy Research Alliance.
The founding members of ANCRE are the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) and the Conference of University Presidents (CPU).
As a public research institute that undertakes energy research, IFREMER is a member of this alliance, as well as :
- The French National Radioactive Waste Management Agency (ANDRA),
- The French Geological Survey (BRGM),
- The Conference of Deans of French Schools of Engineering (CDEFI),
- The National Research Institute of Science and Technology for Environment and Agriculture (IRSTEA, formerly CEMAGREF),

Allenvi
The National Alliance for Environmental Research (AllEnvi) endeavours to promote France as one of the main players in environmental and food science and technology on the European research landscape.
IFREMER is one of the founding members along with the BGRM, CEA, IRSTEA, CIRAD, CNRS, CPU, INRA, IRD, IFSSTAR, Météo-France and MNHN. The president of IFREMER, François Jacq, is the vice-president of AllEnvi. AllEnvi is made up of several thematic working groups. These groups include the ‘Marine’ group, co-led by IFREMER, and is dedicated to orchestrating the national strategy in the field of marine sciences. It works on aligning France with international programmes and in particular the European Strategy for Marine and Maritime Research that is part of the integrated policy of the European Union. It also contributes to the coordinated implementation of public policies in France and Europe by studying territories in mainland and overseas France and their maritime domains to meet their specific needs.
IFREMER is part of several other working groups, including

Foundation for Research on Biodiversity (FRB)
The Foundation for Research on Biodiversity (FRB) is a foundation that fosters scientific cooperation. This platform unites scientists and stakeholders around the theme of biodiversity. It was created in 2008, just after the Grenelle Forum on the Environment, sponsored by the Ministry of Research and Ecology, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and eight public research institutes: BGRM, CIRAD, IFREMER, CNRS, INRA, IRD, MNHN, and IRSTEA. A ninth institute, LVMH, joined in 2014. FRB operates on national and international levels to favour the development, endorsement and organisation of biodiversity research and its knowledge transfer as well as associated activities involving training, raising awareness and disseminating results. As a founding member, IFREMER contributes to guiding FRB activities. Several IFREMER experts are members of FRB committees and councils, such as CESAB and ECOSCOPE and participate in coordinating the various structures such as IPBES, the ERA-NET BiodivERsA or the French Biodiversity Law.
